Connect, don't copy
The Institutional Intelligence Layer does not become another system of record. It connects to the systems you already run and reasons across them in place. Institutional knowledge references its sources; it never duplicates or displaces them. When a source system changes, the reasoning that depends on it stays anchored to the truth rather than drifting from a stale copy.
Integration topology
The layer sits at the center of a hub-and-spoke topology. Systems of record connect through governed connectors; the layer holds the shared reasoning model that spans them. Hover or select a system to see how it participates.
Financials, supply chain, and resource planning (SAP, Oracle).
Integration patterns
Connectors fall into a few well-understood patterns, each chosen to match the source system's cadence:
- Event-driven. Operational systems (MES, SCADA, OPC-UA) stream changes as they happen so the layer reasons over current plant state.
- Batch and scheduled. Analytical stores and warehouses synchronize on a cadence appropriate to their update frequency.
- On-demand reference. Documents and records are referenced at reasoning time, so the layer always cites the authoritative version.
- Bi-directional. Where governance allows, reasoning outcomes flow back into systems of record as structured, attributed context.
Governed by design
Every connector inherits the platform's access model. A system connected to the layer does not widen who can see its data — identity, entitlements, and residency constraints from the source are honored end to end, and every reasoning step remains attributable to the records it drew on.
